"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

Any student in Middle School and High School is invited to get involved in our youth programming.  This church greatly values the lives of our young people and wants to see their relationships with Jesus grow deeper.  Any student in Middle School and High School is invited to get in involved in our youth programming.  We look forward to seeing you at one of our many events!

A2J Youth Group

Our A2J Youth Group (Addicted 2 Jesus) is an active and engaging ministry.

All middle and high school youth are invited to join the group.  They meet every Wednesday at 6pm from September through April at First United Church of Christ. A2J is a place where youth can do exciting things, make new friends and learn about Jesus in the process.  There’s always room for more, so please invite your friends.  Even if you are unsure about your faith, you are welcome to join.  A2J’s motto is: leave your judgement at the door and make room for Jesus.

Confirmation

Each year at First Church, we invite ninth graders and anyone older to participate in a Confirmation course of study.  Throughout the class, we look at biblical and theological issues, and invite students to learn more about being a church member.

The main focus of the class is leading the student to put their faith into their own words. The youth are challenged to create personal Statement of Faith that they can easily share with one of their best friends. It’s easy to memorize and repeat the ancient creeds, but it’s a different story when it comes to expressing or describing our faith to another person.  Learn more and sign up here.

Mission Trips

United to Make a Difference is the theme for our youth group’s mission trips.  Every year a group of youth and adult leaders travel to a YouthWorks mission site and serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.  They’ve been to Brooklyn, NY; Martin, SD; Juarez, Mexico; Red Lake, MN; Denver, CO; Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Lake Traverse, SD; Hamlin, WV, Niagara Falls, NY; Harrisburg, PA; Chattanooga, TN; and Logan, WV.

YouthWorks is a interdenominational missions organization that leads youth to serve communities throughout the United States during the summer months. The trips are open to youth in grades six through graduating seniors. To learn more about their ministry, please visit their website.
