Local Mission
At First Church we support many local missions, both with our dollars and hands on participation. Members and friends of the church are seen all over the community in volunteer positions sharing their time and talent with:
- the hospitals
- CROP walk
- phone-a-thons
- Salvation Army
- nursing homes
- Howe resource center
- and various other community agencies
We hope that you will consider your gifts and seek ways to share them with a servant’s heart!
YouthWorks Mission
In 1944, a youth minister in Minneapolis, Minnesota began providing opportunities for youth to experience traveling to a mission site to serve and share Christian fellowship with youth from other churches. This was the beginning of YouthWorks, which has grown to be a popular life-changing, Christ-centered youth mission opportunity for people ages 12 to 19.
- Our youth have traveled to Indian reservations, inner cities, rural areas and to Mexico to work, to share and grow.
- Three years ago YouthWorks arrived in Green Bay, making its home at First Church. This partnership has seen hundreds of youth pass through our doors, as they served agencies and people in our community.

Back Bay Mission - Biloxi, Mississippi
The Back Bay Mission was founded by a local United Church of Christ in Biloxi in 1922. Although that congregation is no longer in the area, our denomination has supported this important ministry.
Most recently, following hurricane Katrina, the Executive Counsel of First United Church elected to make the Back Bay Mission a priority. Weeks after the hurricane, in October of 2005, a team was sent to work in Biloxi. They provided much needed physical support and emotional care. Several more trips followed.
