Jesus told his followers to baptize new disciples “in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit.” We believe that baptism is an act of surrendering our lives to God. At First Church, we celebrate both infant and adult baptism.
If your participation at this church, or any other community of faith, leads you to commit your life to Jesus Christ through adult baptism, we would be excited to share in that sacrament with you. Stop and explore this exciting time with our minister or contact the church office for more information.
Infant baptism is a time when parents bring their child or children to be dedicated to God. Families promise to raise their children in the Christian faith until that child can decide to follow Christ on their own. As the child matures in their faith, they will affirm their baptism through the act of Confirmation.
You do not have to be a member to have your child baptized at First Church. The Sacrament of Baptism is commonly celebrated during worship, so that the community of faith may share in your family’s joy and make a commitment to join you in raising your child in the Christian faith. Again, contact our church office to learn more or to set up a date for baptism.
